I WISH I COULD UNDERSTAND YOU
Technical specification: site-specific light installation, 2016, 400 x 450 x 70 cm; photograph, 30 x 50 cm, limited edition
The installation is composed of rays of light forming a sentence in Braille’s characters on the wall: I would like to understand you. Means used to create the installation are unique both for aesthetic and conceptual reasons. The extremely spare form of expression – presenting bright light against black background is an ephemeral utopia. A situation has been created in which understanding would never be possible, because a blind person cannot see the sentence. This piece is about the attempt to establish relationships, mutual understanding and expressing our emotions.
