Technical specification: sculpture, 2019, marble, hooks, 40 x 10 x 150 cm
The sculpture created from scrap marble obtained from a stoneworker’s. Selected fragments are leftovers from marble gravestones. The created composition exposes the cross-section of the stones in the form of a panoramic landscape. Its theft constitutes human appropriation of nature. The artist underlines the eternal conflict of nature vs. art, conceding that the former is superior. Limitations and weakness of a human being who tries to master nature is expressed in the fact that the piece was made from leftovers from gravestones, thus reminding us of our limits, the horizon and the adage: Memento mori.
